Loading Live set stops -Mac

Post by Soarer » Wed Jan 09, 2008 11:24 am

Often when loading a Live set it stops/hangs but pressing play starts playing the new set while the screen of the old set remains. I have to open the preferences and close it again and the new sets screen appears.

I had this problem when I switched to Mac -both Tiger and now Leopard.

Does that also happen with sets where no sample-based NI plugins are used (i.e. Battery)?

I've been loading many sets the last couple of days and it doesn't happen that often.
It does happen when a set is using Battery (3.03) but often sets with battery are loading fine too.

The status bar show a blue loading bar that says "65% or 100% Buffering samples..." and it stops and hangs with this number.[/img]

could you please send me one of the problematic sets (just the .als file) and Live's log.txt file to [email protected]?

fyi, the log.txt file is located in:
/user/library/preferences/ableton/live x.x/log.txt

I have this exact same problem. It hangs at some percentage while buffering samples, yet pressing play triggers the new set, though the old screen remains. I can even scrub the arrangement playhead around.
And yes, Battery is running in my set, as well as Vanguard and Albino 3.

Interestingly, I can still access the Live menus. I tried loading the set again, and then suddenly the session view corrects itself... before freezing while buffering samples again. This second time around Live corrected itself after a minute or so of me tampering and pressing space.

Just to concur — this has been happening to me since i have been using v7.0 on a macintosh....

Load new set, screen froze but hitting space bar triggers new set, status at bottom left says buffering or loading live set (can't remember). i have to open prefs or quit to make the screen match the audio.

so +1

Hi guys i Have this exact same issue, mac , 7.x , battery.
My solution is to just hit F11 (fullscreen) twice. if you have this problem that is a good step around it.

I deal with it several times a day. Mac Pro, leopard 10.5.5, NI Komplete (something from it in about every project)

I see this problem has been happening for a very long time now. Is ableton going to fix it?

I wrote to Ableton some time ago. It's a bug in Battery and they told me to contact NI about it which I have not done. I just wrote an email to Ableton asking them to do it themselves.

Ableton just replied:

Hi,

meanwhile we are not 100% sure anymore whether it is a bug in Battery. We are investigating this again in the moment!
