Nice mellow feel to it. You're right about the drums though, they sound a bit like they're from another track. Upping the volume would be a start, and get some EQ on it to bring out the top end a bit. There's always compression to bring them out a bit too.

Are the drums a loop or midi? Could add some different effects on seperate parts of them to widen the sound a little too.

Otherwise, nice :)

Nice feel to the music
But not to be too harsh about it those drums are hideous IMO
I wouldnt bother fiddling with the drums
Your time would be better spent just completely redoing them (maybe from within live?)
I only say this because the rest of the track is really worth the effort it will take :)

i agree.. the drums/ percussion need more of electric/synthetic feel, more blips n click and maybe some noise shaker

i'll revisit and repost

cheers

Hey dude,

sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Overall it's a good tune, however, the mix really needs to be sorted...not just the drums. I think that you should pull all your levels down for each track to give yourself some more headroom. This way you can get the drums to sit better within the mix. Turn your amp or speakers up to counteract the low volume.

The overall mix may sound alot quieter than before, but you should be able to get more control with the drum track.

You need to use some eqing on a few sounds around the lower end, I feel they're getting in the way of the drums. Just reduce the gain a little should do the trick.

Since the track will be lower in volume, I recommend a bit of "Ghetto mastering", to do this a mix-down will be required. Simply render to disc a stereo file of the tune with the master fader set to 0db. Then create a new session and place your stereo mix-down in it. To boost the signal and to get it sounding sharper and phatter, use a multi-band eq and compressor on the master strip.

You need to get it up to around the same volume as a commercial track, so use a tune that is similar to yours as a reference.

You will have to figure out what settings to use with the multy and eq, but let your ears work that out.

It may be good idea to record the drums again. Try to get a nice level into your audio interface. In live make sure the level is around -18db with the peaks at around -9db before you record.

Hope it helps.
