4.01 on OSX crashes on quit (intermittent)

Post by fugu » Tue Aug 10, 2004 7:01 pm

Hey,

Subject says it all, sometimes, with any new, saved, or other Live session, with 10.3.4 and 10.3.5 upon closing the session or quitting the application, Live appears to quit properly then gives an 'unexpected quit' notice as if it has crashed..

hope this helps,

fugu

FYI: I have opened and closed LIVE 4.01 100's of times since installing it on my PowerBook. It has never crashed. I wonder if it is a loaded VST that is having trouble unloading when closing LIVE. I'm not denying that you're experiencing this, yet, it might be associated with a VST, Audio driver or MIDI driver.

Please list the rest of your equipment.
MacBook Pro (MacOS 13.0.1) i9 Processor, 32gb RAM, 4tb SSD
(STUDIO I/O) MOTU UltraLite mk5 (w/ADA8200), (LIVE I/O) Behringer X Air XR18
Ableton Live Suite 11 (Live performances), Studio One 5 (Studio Stem Creation)

I've seen the same thing on my powerbook, 1GHZ, 768 MB RAM, OS 10.2 - I'm sure it was happening before I loaded any new plug-ins.

Hi fugu,

can you send me a system crash log file of Live. This may help us to find the problem.

regards,
Alex

VST?

FWIW, I was seeing this almost every time.
I just recently turned off VST plugs in preferences and then quit and did not see the problem.
Can't sya if this is definitive (just one try) but you might want to experiment...

I've been having the same intermittent "crash upon quitting" problems as well.

To clarify, it's not really THAT big of a problem, since it only does it after I've saved and quit, and doesn't affect the file I was working on prior to quitting.

But still.

I have this problem. It happens when I have the Behringer BCR2000 or the Microkontrol selected as a remote control input. I don't think it happens otherwise. I'll submit a bug report now.

It also crashes when I turn off the power of either of these devices when they are connected and selected as midi remote control input.

thanks.

fwiw, I have a Event EZBus (usb midi controller) and an Edirol UC550 (usb 5x midi interface).

speaking of crash reporting, (on osx) what's the deal with the 'submit report to apple' button? Do you (Abletons) get those reports? are you able to?

Hi fugu,

if you press the 'submit report to apple' button, the message goes to Apple and we will never see unless Apple will send it to us.

Better is to copy and paste the text into a text file and to mail it to me directly.

regards,
Alex
