Adam A7 monitors

hey all
has any 1 got or tried these monitors im thinking of getting some...
if so let me know your experiences

i've heard a lot of good things about adam in general, what i like about them is the power and volume are on the front... haven't listened to them, however, i don't listen to monitors in the store, as i have two pairs, and have no need to listen to anymore, i am happy with mine

genelec and krk seem to get positive nods round these parts, too.. you just got to listen to them and decide if they are right for you.

i have the A7s and love the high end clarity. when i added a sub to the system the sound improved considerably. not only does the sub go deeper than the adams even came close to, but also the sub removes a lot of the low end burden from the adams, allowing them to open up and focus on everything above the crossover. highly recomended, but only with a sub.

for what it's worth, i am using a blue sky sub that was not very expensive but does a great job.

A SHITLOAD of people on here have them. The way they rave about them, it's like if they couldn't have them they'd rather be deaf.

I use Genelec's, but if I was forced to use A7's I wouldn't complain.

4 me the best monitots 4 this price. I use them and I'm happy.
I had the Genelecs 1030 before, they are good monitors, but the A7 are better.
You can really hear a singer standing in front of a mic in his studio, what I couldn't hear sometimes with the Genelecs (voice was more hidden in the mix), really precise. Some people dont like the ribbon kind of tweeters (too much HF), but I like it, it works!!!

I also have the sub, but I switched it of. Only when I take final decision`s for a mix, I connect them. The A7 have enough low end information for a near field speaker, just incredible!

I heard them at NAMM, and they sounded great. Granted, there was a lot of background noise, but they sounded really amazing. The A7s are around 1000 for a pair. The next level up is like $2500 for a pair, and those sounded a bit too "airy". The high end is like $5500 (I think), but damn they sounded FABULOUS!

I bought pair from England and had them sent over to Spain.. It was like waiting for my two sons to be born (well not quite)..

They arrived... I set them up.... played one of my tracks through them... And was 'WOW these sound effing amazing!' Shouted out to the wife and kids to come and witness this 'next step' to audio sublimity.. When it was my turn to get back in the 'sweet spot' I entered with a more critical producers ear and thought... 'Shit that synth is panned well heavily over to the right, and those hats and the tamb ....Oh fuck ...only one tweeter works!! (still sounded good though.. just a bit one sided hehe)

Sent the speaker back.. A new one arrived... went through the same process as before...

They're excellent monitors. Put them in a good room and be ready to smile BIG time

i had some mackie hr828s before i got the a7s. in contrast, the a7s are more revealing but the ribbon tweeters were frying my ears a bit before i acclimated to their sound.

the mackies had more of a hi-fi type of sound. i wanted new speakers that could translate better to other systems. the mackies were awful in this regard because the bass was very exaggerated (i.e., not accurate!).

if you're looking for speakers under $2k that have enough bass response and are accurate down there to forgo a sub -- forget about it because you won't find any IMO. i felt the bass on the adams were more than adequate. ymmv of course.

unfortunately, my pair had some quality issues, but the people at adam usa were super friendly with service. one of woofers made this strange rattling noise, but it could only be hear on compressed 808 and 909 bass kicks. i should get back the speakers from adam usa in a few weeks. other than that minor quality issue, i'm happy with them.

try the EMES BLACKS, goes seriously low.

I like my A7s. One thing I don't like is that the input gain knobs on the front are stepped (which in theory is good so that you can match right and left - though I'm not convinced they're totally matched perfectly), and with my set up the first 3-4 steps = no sound, then it's all of a sudden a little too loud. (The output on my interface is stepped too, which is annoying - it's always a notch too quiet or a notch too loud.)

I usually work with them set on -30dB (scale is -60 to +6). I just think they're scaled a little hot, and I'd like some finer control around the -30dB area.

They're flat and accurate and all that though.

I thought that I saw somewhere that they're capable of reproducing frequencies up to 40KHz

I have em' have been thinking recently about getting NS-10's to A/B the sparkle and shimmer of the A7 with well, the NS10's
