Do you want "follow song position" being automatically deactivated by some actions?

I don't care

I hate this, it should always remain activated

I can tell you at least a single situation when automatic deactivating makes sense

follow song position is being deactivated - who wants this?

Post by p8guitar » Mon Jan 28, 2008 8:05 pm

I wonder why the "follow song position" gets deactivated as soon as I zoom, edit or do anything else (blow my nose etc.).
support says this is to support the workflow.
I don't think so, I keep pressing the f key to turn it on again and this is gettin on my nerves... :?

I can't figure out what you mean. If I activate follow, nothing deactivates it

?

is this a very recent thing?

it gets deactivated here when I change the zoom in the arrange, or when I move the visible section of the song, or when I select a clip, or when I select a point in the timeline where the song position should jump to, or when I click in the sample or note editor.

I must admit that the last one makes sense, I'll have to change the poll options...

I never understood this either..

I mean, you activate it, click somewhere, and it's deactivated again..

just to make sure:

when transport is running,
Follow is activated,
then click somewhere in Arrange,
Follow is still activated?

:x I always took this as normal behaviour though thought it could be improved..
must be a bug then..

hehe, there's the kicker. yes, it does deactivate when the tranport is going.

sorry for confusion

although I can see the reasoning behind it. (if you want to look or select a certain location, that you'd want the scrolling to stop.)

aaahh.. thanks..

yes I can sort of see the reasoning as well..
though 90% of the time I do not want it to stop Follow..
preference issue..
