why dont you like me?

Post by mac osx 10.3.4 » Sun Aug 08, 2004 10:26 pm

I love the software when it works, but it seriousley crashes on my g5 60-70 percent of the time i use it. It only crashes when opening a set, I have tried removing a few plugins to see if the problem is there, no luck. Could it be a preferences file?

My Installed Au's include:
-Korg Legacy Collection
-Reaktor Sessions
-Crystal
-Bitmodder
-Supatrigga

No extra VST's at the moment besides Reaktor sessions versions..

This is the report my mac sent to apple:

Everything works great now, I trashed the preferences file in the live 4.01 folder and then turned AU's back on in preferences and everything came up where it should.. Seems more stable too..

mac osx 10.3.4

ok im back

Erasing the preferences let me open live once then it started crashing again. Same error report, same Au's and VST's, it crashes every time now, when i erase the preferences file Live lets me open the set by double clicking.

In short:

-Live 4 opens normally and fine from the dock and finder
-Opening a set by double clicking on it crashes Live
-Erasing the preferences lets me open the set by double clicking
-Opening a set in Live menu crashes program..(file->open->)

Is there a problem with any of my Au's?

Anyone else having this problem?

I have a couple of Live 4 sets that just wont load again. They are 4MB in size (because of too many midi events, i think).

Im running Reaktor Session too, so it could be the problem.

Ive only got 256 memory and I presumed this was the problem....I will try to delete RS as soon as I get some time.

Ah, Ive got Crystal too, never use it must have come from some mag cd. Ill delete that too...

I will post if i get the set working...

updating to 10.3.5 diddnt do anything for me..

ever since installed live ive been having MASSIVE cpu crashes. I have installed osx THREE times since messing arond with Live 4.

My system only started running normally when I trashed it.

Serious problems, applications not opening, dock not working, permissions totally screwy.. I have been using osx for almost three years AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL I BOUGHT AND INSTALLED LIVE 4.

I will wait until they release an update before i reinstall Live 4 again...

Lost too much time dealing with the crashes.

Similiar problems...Getting worse everyday!!!

I'm having similiar problems. Waves 5.0 plugs in live as VST, crash on start up. I just locked the folder instead of removing it. Just now live open up a whole song as my template, took like 5 minutes to start live, I thought it was frozen. Live uses well over 350megabytes of ram on my G4 867 when I have an average amount of clips running. Ram could be your problem. G5's only come with 256megs of ram, how sucky for the price!

I have been having some slight os system problems too. This is by far the buggiest live I've ever worked with! It could be apples fault too, Live 3.0 functioned well on OSX 10.2.6. I hope abletons head is not getting too big, like what I feel happened to steinberg, just releasing buggy products to the public and fixing the problems as they come. While users spend hours trying to get work done. I spent way to much money for that sort of treatment. I have been on the bandwagon since 1.0.

My set up
Live 4.0
Osx 10.3.3
Over 800 megs of ram
G4 867hz

I am using a dual g5 with 2GB of ram, there shouldnt be a problem there..

I have been using live for over a year and this is the only trouble i have really ever had with it, love the program, but i have just wasted another night trying to get this to work for me.

I just hope the update takes care of all of these issues, well over $400 invested into this program..

what audio card are all of you using? if coreaudio, the newest update on the digidesign website is necessary to fix a lot of bugs w/ live. also, it is known that the AU's are crashing people's systems. downloading the newest quicktime will sometimes fix the AU bug as well.

update your all your plugins if possible and osx, repair file permissions and then see what happens.

i use a G5 w/ 1.5 Gig RAM, Live 4.01, OSX 10.3.4, CoreAudio 6.5.2, waves gold 4, and the everything has worked flawlessly except apple's AU's, though I will be trying the quicktime update tonight.

Yeh!
I had alwys these problem. I'm in PC. I've bought live since 1.5 V ( Update it to 2.0 and now 4.0 have the same PB. This software is not finish. It crash and crash again.
I used it for live performance . Sampled my Guitare in real time with my Vox

So i decide it to leave it and build my Software.

still going, still have problems

Is it me or does ableton now consume way more ram then ever? Do you have to allocate ram in programs anymore on osx, I thought osx did for you and optimized. I just reinstalled live and the operating system again. Not sure what was the problem, one day I restarted and all that I got was a grey screen with a grey apple logo on it. Does anyone have multiple start disks on in there system?
