Remote SL: "ableton is offline"

I think that it's a bug in the new update in the hardware (remote SL) that we cant do anything about except making novation aware of the problem so they can solve it with a new fix.

I tried to setup my REMOTE SL 61 for the first time today with Ableton Live 7 and I am, unfortunately, experiencing the exact same problem ("Ableton is offline"). I really hope that a fix is put out soon (either by Novation or Ableton). I'll keep checking this thread to see if any progress is made!

Perhaps this bug will be fixed when Novation releases Automap Universal 2.0 (which will be available for download next month): http://www.novationmusic.com/global/new ... _new_high/

Can anybody speak to this possibility?

I've got the 'Ableton is offline' problem too (also getting pops and crackles when selecting encoders and encoder banks on Automap Universal with some VSTS).

It'd be great if it worked as advertised, but as it is it doesn't do anything that a standard cheap midi keyboard wouldn't do.

Works as intended with Live 6, but Live 7 - nope. Trying to find out if it's Live or the SL that's broken is the problem. Sucks!

I've been in contact with Novation support and the person with whom I spoke informed me that Novation is working with the folks at Ableton to try and resolve this problem.

Novation claim that the problem rests within the Live 7 script, which would make sense as Live 6 seems to work OK.

I'm also getting significant latency when using the SL with Live 7. When I first run Live latency is good, but after messing with a few vsts latency will suddenly increase so much that the SL becomes useless for inputting midi (this is with 10% cpu load). At the same time though, there's no latency if I use the computer keyboard.

Also, sometimes if I scroll through the different templates the SL will stop outputting midi altogether. Only restarting Live sorts this out.

Has anyone tried the latest Live beta? Novation say that that may sort out the problems.

I don't think the problem lies soley with Ableton for two reasons, (1) I'm also getting "Automap is OFFLINE" and inability for Automap to sense/detect my connected hardware, as are some other users it seems, and (2) the same problem (replace Ableton with Automap) in Cubase.

Their beta drivers (4.1.10b6) fix both the "Ableton is OFFLINE" and "Automap is OFFLINE" bug for me, but they introduce new problems with the automapping, whereby parameters are now being mapped to VSTs incorrectly!

After experiencing all the issues above...

Success!!!!!!

9 hours of troubleshooting and the Remote SL works as it should...

Live Version 7.0.2 fixes this problem.

My settings are:

Ableton Auto-Map Template also works via Ableton Live Version 6.0.2 - but I was experiencing pops/clicks/glitch when rewired with Reason and consistent sporadic Midi communication failure When playing Reason from Live 6.0.2 Midi clips.

So far so good - full functionality of the Remote SL with Live (and Reason ReWired)

Hope this alleviates some headaches!

...temporarily - until you switch between a few different automaps - then it goes back to OFFLINE and I have to restart the program...

Just rename AutomapServer.app to Automap Server.app (this is on os x i'm on about) and it won't launch on start up, and that seems to solve my problem. Dunno if that'll help.

This fixes it but it becomes unstable after a while cause sinc is off. But having sinc on causes audio dropouts & pops. I spoke to a tech at novation the other day & he knew nothing about this problem!!! He promised me he'd email me after investigation. I'm certain it's a problem with LIve cause 6.07 works perfectly.

What becomes unstable after a while with Sync off? Why would the Remote SL need Sync from Live beside the flashing Tempo LED?
