So.... with all the guys who come inspect your rig at concerts and seem to have en encyclopedic knowledge of audio gear....

there should be a total market for some sort of Fantasy Musician League or something.

I'll trade you Axl Rose and Thom Yorke for Bob Mould.

I don't get people who go to museums but don't make art.

For some reason I just can't get into any sports involving a stick or a ball. Unless maybe stickfighting.

When I was a teenager I use to skateboard. Watching people skate was cool too.

I've never been into the mainstream sports like football, bball, or baseball. Baseball just baffles my mind. I think its possibly the most boring sport I've ever seen live.

When it comes down to it combat sports are the only sports that make any sense to me. I'm a huge MMA fan and have been since I was in high school. Muay Thai, kickboxing, jiu jitsu, sub grappling, and wrestling I can watch and enjoy. I think its because I have been training in martial arts on and off since I was in high school. I'm not at all a violent person and probably the most mellow and peaceful person you will ever meet. But for some reason I just don't understand any other sports.

So most MMA fights I see as a very technical chess match, except instead of using pawns rooks and knights you're using your punches, kicks, positional control, and submissions.

I'll have to look for that. Does it explain why some people go absolutely ape shit over sports? In some cases driven to kill?

That's a good special but you may want to watch Real Sports w/ Bryant Gumbel

there's more insight into the actual sports fan and what makes up that fan -

a lot of sports fans were at one point involved in playing a sport

not sure if you did or didn't play sports in your former life

I'm very active in dirt biking, martial arts, snow boarding and running but watching sports on the telly is a complete waste of my time.

Is Real Sports a daily or weekly show? I'd just like a 1 or 2 hour summary. If I don't get watching sports regularly then I don't think I would get watching a show about other people watching sports regularly.

I love watching sports. I love playing as well, anything really. What I don't understand is the hardcore $PAYING$ fan. I don't have 10 All Blacks T-Shirts that I keep precious and I don't buy WeetBix because of the cards inside. I have no idea what the Sedin Twins Goal and Assist stat's are either. I went to a NHL Canucks and Anahim game recently and it was fantastic entertainment, it was a gift, I would't pay for it.

Its definately a culture thing, way down here in NZ at least. There are lots for sports fans, but the freight that gets spent on this years edition of memorabelia astounds me. I'm kind of glad none of my kids are sports fanatics. Shite, one of them wants to be a cheese maker when he grows up! What will he talk about with the guys at the bar? 8O

I watch all the major US sports, and follow quality football (soccer). I also regularly bet on sporting events and try to attend at least some sort of sporting event when I go back to the states (i.e. baseball, football, basketball). Sports hold a very important place in some peoples lives... for instance it's about the only thing my pops and I got in common. It's all entertainment in the end.

I believe it's monthly. maybe bi monthly

they go deeper than most sports shows when it comes to, well, sports
One of the most highly regarded shows on television, REAL SPORTS was hailed by Entertainment Weekly as one of "the ten best shows of 2004," and called "flat out TV's best sports program" by the Los Angeles Times and TV's "best news magazine" by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Launched in 1995, the show takes fans beyond the box scores and statistics for a provocative look at the world of contemporary sports, presenting timely investigations, exclusive and topical interviews, and compelling human interest stories that make it one of TV's truly unique programs.

"REAL SPORTS was conceived with the idea of giving our viewers - be they sports fans or not - a hard-hitting, unique perspective on the full spectrum of stories that infiltrate the world of sports," said Greenburg. "Each month, our extremely talented producers and correspondents set out not only to deliver stories that you won't see anywhere else, but to create intelligent storytelling that has an emotional impact on our viewers."

I was listening to the radio the other day and they were talking about technology and specifically about large HD TVs. The whole question of when to buy came up and the answer had nothing to do with new technology coming out. It was all based around the superbowl. So prices won't go down during football season up through the superbowl because their will be a mad rush for HD TVs just before the game. You should wait until after. WTF??

OK, what else is on TV that's as visually stunning as sports in HD? the nature stuff is AMAZING but not nearly as fast paced.

actually people buy big ass TVs for the game only to return them on Monday.
