pioneer cdj1000mk2, mk3

Post by ki » Sat Feb 02, 2008 7:33 am

not about ableton, but to pioneer cdj users...i got a question.
i am about to buy pioneer cdj but want to know what's the real differences between cdj1000mk2 and mk3?? i've read the reviews and comparisons, but want to hear from people who actually used them both. jog wheel, mp3 search etc. does mk3 reads better or easier to access mp3s? and the jog wheel..i can't even try since they don't sell mk3 in my local.
anyway, overall, i am asking which one to go for.
thanx

The biggest difference is the jogg wheel, it feels better on the mk3. the reason for this is that the mk3 has the option to change the ''feeling'' of the jogg wheel to your own likes.
I don't know about the mp3 search cus' i'm spinning cd's.
Where are you gonna use it? because this thing definitely worth checking:

it's smaller, but very nice.

In a club there's nothing better than the Cdj-1000mk3, but it's an over kill to get them at home.
Cdj-400 has more functions (looping with triplet beat cutting etc.) and the jogg wheel works the same.

I've been considering buying CDJ's myself.

i'll probably go for the 400. It's got cool features and a nice small footprint, so it works perfectly for a "bedroom" setup like mine. And if you learn how to work the 400 at home, there's no reason why you wouldnt be able to work an 800 or a 1000 in a club. The basic functionalities are the same.

i'm also considering waiting for the 800 mk3, which hopefully would have the 400's new features, plus the larger "standard" 800/1000 platter (this is just a hypothesis. i have no idea if an 800 mk3 is actually in the works, and what improvements would it have if it were)

i succumbed to temptation and bought me a pair of CDJ 400's, a DJM 400, a coffin, and a stand.

CDJ's were backordered, plus i chose to have it all shipped togeter AND free shipping so they'll take quite a while to get here. FUCK. this'll probably be the longest week (weeks?) ever

there's a built in version of Live Lite in the mixer's firmware. The CDJ's automatically map to it.
