can't delete temp files on exit (7.01) intermittent

Hi,

I've notice this a few times, on exiting the program I get an error message similar to
"cannot delete temp files for some reason"

Now, I've no real idea why this is - but I do know that as a result of this I have about 20 projects in my scratch disk. All called names like ...
Temp Project
Temp-1 Project
Temp-2 Project

all the way to Temp-32 Project, there are a few missing on the way.

My log only contains these small clues,
the blow is the only time the log caught the issue.

Hi,

I haven't had the "can't delete" error message for a long while - but these temp files need manual management (deletion). All of these are reasonably recent. This is just the last months crop of Temp files.

there is another thread about this too.

it seems to sucessfully delete the samples but not the folder...

I have also gotten the 'can't delete' error dialog one or two times.

Angstrom,

according to the log files there are two types of windows error codes (6 = ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE & 32 = ERROR_SHARING_VIOLATION)

We will investigate that.

Hi (again),

it seems Live keeps an empty temp folder, each time a new set is loaded while an audio track in the previous set was armed. So this bug is mainly responsible for the amount of empty temp folders you can get after a while.

The errors coming when the deletion of files or folders fail are a different issue. and much harder to trace.

Hi Alex,
that first post was from a while back (December) and I've not seen those error messages (on closing) for a while, and nothing in the logs either. Although the folders are persisting with the betas for 7.02.
I've just gone back to check through the error logs for Betas 6,5,4 and 3 and none of those turn up anything for the search string "Delete error"
so that issue may have been partly resolved already by the Betas for 7.02

the last two errors in the log I have are in 7.01

But the folders are still being left behind without leaving much in the log (it seems), because as you can see : while temp-20 was the last to be logged as a "delete error" I have 32 temp folders, meaning the process is still problematic.

one last note - that "error 32 " related to Simpler / Sampler waveforms.
I was trying some additive synthesis.
I'm not sure if that helps at all.

I got the "Can;t delete Temp files for some reason" message on saving again today.
It's quite a simple set. One track has the EIC piano, and on another track a Simpler and a Sampler in a rack, both of those reference the same sawtooth wave (not an Ableton wave that one) . I have taken a bug reporting snapshot if you would like it.

I had a look at the log to see what it had to say on the matter.

the slightly odd thing here is - that this project is no longer a Temp project at all, it is a saved Project , with a name, on a completely different drive.

so I'm not sure why Live is still struggling with the temp folder

hi, this problem still exists in 7.02

I have a fully saved project, but every time I try to save I get the little warning dialogue box and my log says.
