sample in sampler sounds different when transport is running

Post by buzby » Tue Feb 05, 2008 11:07 pm

hi

i have a sample loaded into sampler and im triggering it with a midi keyboard

when the transport is switched off the sample sounds how i want it to

as soon as i try to record it into the arrangement or even into another track in the session view then the sound changes

also if i play the sample whilst the play button is running on the transport and no other sample is playing, then the sound of my sample in sampler changes

why? and how can i record the sample the way that i want it to - the way it sounds when the transport play button is off..

thanks

my friend found the problem -

there is a beat repeat and delay in the effects chain

when the transport is not running and sample is triggered, then the beat repeat is not activated - the sample is triggered briefly and it is the delay effect which creates the sound im after

as soon as the transport is running then the beat repeat kicks in and changes the sound

hi,

in general I would like to say that in order to work 'ok',
transport has to run because some devices might depend on the MIDI clock (with synced/quantized parameters as LFO's and delays)..

I'm not totally familiar with the inner working of beat repeat but I think it can only fill it's buffer when transport is running..

When transport is not running no one can guarantee it has same results as when it does run..

So it's advised to really rely on the sound you hear when transport is running..

cheers..
