Loading Ableton 7 takes ages
Hi guys
When loading Ableton 7 it takes ages to load, good few minutes, enough t annoy.
It has the Ableton Box, and seems to say initialising sound blah blah.. then stays saying that.. eventually it opens up.
I have the following laptop(Vista)...
Sony VAIO AR31E - Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz - 17" TFT
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 / 1.66 GHz
Multi-Core Technology: Dual-Core
64-bit Computing: Yes
Data Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Features: Enhanced SpeedStep technology
Chipset Type: Mobile Intel 945PM Express
Cache memory
Type: L2 Cache
Installed Size: 2 MB
Ram
Installed Size: 2 GB / 2 GB (max)
Technology: DDR II SDRAM - 667 MHz
Memory Specification Compliance: PC2-5300
Also, when using my BCD2000 Ableton tends to skip especially if I open something else up(Internet Explorer for example)
Any ideas why I'd experience these issues?

Hello singled5678,
You might send me your Log.txt file to check this.
The Log.txt file can be found in following location:
Windows (Live 3): (Installation Directory)/Ableton/Preferences
Windows (Live 4 and later versions): C:/Documents and Settings/your user name/Application Data/Ableton/Live/Preferences
Mac OS X: /User/Library/Preferences/Ableton
Note that on some Windows systems the application data folder is hidden by default. Here is what you have to do to make it visible:
Windows XP/2000
Launch Explorer.
Select Tools/Folder Options/View.
Check "Show hidden files and folders."
best,
Christian Kleine

and...
Vista is not the best os for audio production atm.
-B
I have the standard soundcard:-
Audio:
Compliant Standards: Microsoft WSS 1.0/2.0, High Definition Audio
Audio Output: Sound card
Audio Input: Microphone
although I am using the inboard BCD2000's souncard.
Kleine: I shall get the txt file when i am back at home this evening, thanks!
I sometimes get this as well on XP+SP2. Usually when its doing this, a reboot is enough to resume normal sensible load times.
Ive allways found that for some reason the interaction between Live 6 (and now 7) and my yamaha mLan asio driver to be a bit sensitive. Cubase 4 doesnt seem to suffer any similar ill effects - ie when Live 7 is having a bad day and taking forever to load, I dont find that Cubase 4 is as well.

Nothing to see here - move along!
