M-Audio Keystation Pro No Sounds...

Post by britesc » Mon Feb 04, 2008 2:21 pm

Hi,

I am running Live 7 on Vista, using a MOTU Midi Express 128, MOTO 828MK2.
I have a UMX 25, MicroKorg, Trigger Finger and Keystation 88 Pro.
The UMX, Korg and Finger work fine but the KSP is driving me mad.

Although I have reset the zones to all work from lowest and highest keys and factory reset until I am blue in the face, only the top 20 or so keys seem to make viable sounds in Live. If I use the octave +keys I get more sound but only from those keys. Most of the time I need to be +3 to get any sounds.

I have watched the note ons and offs for each on the channels using midiox and all seems ok with the keyboard. M-audio says that Live is the problem, but cannot say what the problem is.

Can anyone please advise me how to properly use my KSP.
I am only connected via midi not USB.

Thanks appreciate any help.

This happened to me some time ago.
I though I was playing but I enabled MIDI Learn in Live by chance
(The big MIDI key in the upper right corner, I'm sure you already known that)
and instead of playing I was assigning MIDI Notes.... I lost C1 C2 and some thing in the middle for more than 1 hour. I then get rid of it by unmapping them all. Hope it's such a stupid thing, let us know.

I think even if the notes are midi mapped to control a feature, they should still sound the note through the instrument in the track if its armed.

Have you tried connecting via USB to see if the problem remains the same?

Is the keyboard connected midi thru something else?

Hi,

Thanks for replies.

I have tried USB (NO)
I have tried new cables (NO)
Not a mapping problem. Just a screwed KSP and Live 7

Still seeking help....

Thanks

Solved

Hi,

I have resolved the problem

As I suspected keys may have been pressed accidently (cleaner perhaps),
I tried to reset the octaves level and voila...

Press zones, octaves button once then saw octaves set at -7 so changed it to 0 and all my keys are back.

So even after repeated factory resets the octaves are not reset.

So I am now happy again... Thanks wife and kids for patience.
