where do I get free MAC VST's?
where do I get free MAC VST's?
I downloaded heaps of MAC VSTs and AU from hitsquad but bugger all seem to work on ableton7 .I know free and MAC don't go hand in hand but I'm after some soft synths as I don't have operator. If only ableton included a full version with Live7 it would solve my problem.

http://www.studiotoolz.net/
studio toolz is good...
just pimp the websites of
u-he
flux vst
brainworks digital
cycling 74
solid state logic
audjoo, or a synth named helix or something.
and all.
google all that. there isnt much in the way of freeware mac plugs, but there are some gems...
check the plug in database of www.kvraudio.com have a look at www.dontcrack.com as well.
the stuff in live 7, eq 8, compressor, and the fx are really tight.
its synths, but I gave you some links...
Key to sound has a nice free synth, and that helix synth is supposed be really good.
if you are lacking though in synths, put some money together and buy something.
if you want to do better than lives eq 8 and compressor from version 7, expect to spend some serious money.
and if you are looking to best lives built in fx, you have to pick up something like sugar bytes artillery.
that is why you see people with sorta these plugs. free-ware is great. and on xp there is plenty of it to give payware a real serious thought or two. but on os x that is snoT the chAse...
cheers
( edit )
after reading you post again, if all you want is synths...
U-he has the cheese machine? i think its called..
Key To sound has something... Remedy??
and then there is the audjoo helix...??
those three synths are great to get you started. and try to save up 200 dollars for
www.cakewalk.com Rapture, as its one of the best around and will solve your synth problem forever as long as you put the time in to learn it...

too many lasers...
Cheers for that all I was after was a sort of fill-in for a operator synth nice and simple and one that uses little CPU as well.
I'm pretty happy with the EFX in ableton and have a lot of free AU mda efx too.
I'd like to buy operator but it costs a bit with NZ's exchange rate and I got my DX27 cheaper than the software.
Thanks for the Links

The only free software synthesizer for Mac you will ever need is Automat.

From the website you just linked...
"
This is a test build of Automat 1.0. Lots of features missing. Burns a lot of CPU cycles. Does not always do what it's supposed to do
wft? the only free synth he would need?

Cheers again.I'm a tad new to VSTs been holding on to my SH-7 and sh101 for a long time but they aren't too portable with a laptop.
I downloaded some of the synths listed hopefully they will do a passable job to get some ideas down.
I like messing with samples with Live7 but I came from a analogue synth background so I like to program a bit.

here's a great (and free!) sh-101 emulation just released:polymer wrote:Cheers again.I'm a tad new to VSTs been holding on to my SH-7 and sh101 for a long time but they aren't too portable with a laptop.
