Project BPM - when DJing.

Post by singled5678 » Mon Feb 11, 2008 10:18 am

Hi Guys

Does anybody have any tips or tricks on how to increase the tempo when Djing with live..

What I am doing at the moment is using my controllers jog wheel(through Bomes MT's software) to nudge the tempo up or down during the mix, in a breakdown.

The only problem with this is if I get a bit giddy and knock the jogwheel too far then it is noticeable. So, I was wondering if there's a way to programme ableton to automatically gradually increase/decrease the project temp to the tracks tempo? Are there any vst's or such or any way that you guys do this?

Many thanks!

In session view: name the clips of the master track 125 bpm, 126 bpm, 127 bpm 65 bpm... that will do the trick.
MBP OSX 10.6.8, Live 8.4, MFII, Evolver, Monomachine, Octatrack, APC40, Launchpad

Thanks for the reply...

Sorry, can i just confirm this. Rename files as follows:-

BPM - key -Track name.mp3

For example :-

132 bpm -5A - singled5678.mp3

(I also include the key in my file name)

Then Ableton will pick up the BPM from the filename and adjust the tempo automatically to the next track?

Live won't pick the tempo out of the file name.

You need to rename the scene that the clip is in, and Live's master tempo will jump to that tempo when the scene is launched.
