[upgrade] Which laptop? MB or MBP?
So, at present I am using the last revision of the G4 PowerBooks - it's the 12" model with 1.25ghz CPU and 1.5gb ram. Needless to say, it's a little underpowered for some of the more intenstive tasks that Live is capable of.
The question is, which machine do I upgrade to? The two in question are the black MacBook (straight off-the-shelf) or the more powerfull 15" MacBook Pro.
Are the 'extras' that come on the MBP (extra USB, faster FW etc) REALLY worth the extra £600 that it'll cost me...? I'm not a musical professional, although I do gig with a laptop. The black MacBook whoops the arse off of my current PB.
Thoughts?

IMO, it really comes down to screen size for what we use it for.
I've had the black macbook and I now have a MBP. I prefer the 15 inch screen by far. By seriously, not much power difference for music making.
If you like the screen on the macbook, then save yourself money. It's just preference.
PS - They both have two usb ports.

^navigating apple's site is lame, it's hard to find specifics, i had similar issues when i was considering which computer to get...
and i ended up with the mbp. wifey has a mb, and this is what i use here, perfect for interwebbing, but i would not have been happy making music on this thing, i mucho prefer the screen size of the pro. if you got the money, logic user, go with the pro. i assume you are using logic... and i think it would be more of a headache with the mb. very easy to add a screen to the pro, and you don't have to worry about the graphics stealing rescources... i would hate to mess with logic on the mb, already feel like there's not enough space with the pro, and another monitor... just my .02
