External Instrument - Duplicate Audio

Post by SilverJS » Tue Feb 12, 2008 3:54 am

Small problem - starting to discover External Instrument (to use Triton Extreme and XV-5050) but am finding that I get duplicate audio!

I don't see how this is possible, as it would have to mean every key is struck twice simultaneously, but if I mute the track's Activator, I get the pure feed from the Triton, and if I activate it (I've got it setup so that the audio is sent to Sends, otherwise there was no way of isolating the two) and raise the Send levels, I get that dreaded flange/phase effect.

Any bright ideas?

Cheers!

Yes :-)
probably you're hearing the additional signal thru your soundcards direct monitoring function. Go into your soundcards mixer and make sure that there's no input signal routed direct to an output. So, Live has the input signal exclusive.

Or perhaps you had MIDI sync on which was triggering both the Ableton sequencer as well as the Triton's sequencer at the same time?

I had this same problem with MOTU UltraLite and this is what I had to do:

In the Mix1 bus (UltraLite has 4 busses), the input carrying the signal I wanted to record (let's say input 3/4) was turned all the way down. Mix1 bus output set to main out.

In the Mix2 bus, I have only the input 3/4 turned up. Mix2 bus output is set to none.
