with this debate and debates about faking on stage or what is music, I think the times are just changing. as I grew up there was no DJ worship and very very little synth playing, times are changing, peoples' expectations are changing, the norm is changing.
Daft Punk displayed a level of dexterity and musiciality with their Lemurs that only consumate professionals with virtuoso skills could possibly pull off. they must've hit samples like 20 times, and I thought their quantization settings were incredible!!
damn kids these days...
look what happened in the 90s with dance music...so much of the piano stuff got put out there that songs became "just another piano house track"
the same has happened with indie bands this last couple of years, bands are becoming "just another indie band" so us kids (ill stretch kids to being up to the age of 26 so i can fit in
who cares about mainstream and selling out these days and not doing as much work as a guitarist?
guitarists get their guitar and learn the chords / notes and then make some songs
computer folk learn the software / hardware and possibly keyboard/piano chords scales etc, then write songs
if someones musically talented they will make a good song, regardless of what they are using
its all music, thats all that matters!
