When I have a single stereo clip playing in live, frequently i get nasty glitch noises when opening menus, minimizing/maximizing windows, etc. It only seems to happen when I am connected to my Tascam US-122. When I use MME/DirectX, things seem to work fine (or at least, a little bit better).
I reinstalled the ASIO drivers, and still no change.
I can get the problem to happen regularly when I open the task manager and sort by CPU usage (the constant refreshing of the list makes audible pops with each new sort).
The problem persists with 7.0.2b2 and b3.
I am using a Dell Precision M70 (single core), pentium M, windows XP, 1.32 GHz, 1.0 GB RAM, Tascam US-122, M-audio O2, and a Korg PadKontrol.
Perhaps my computer is just too far behind the times? This setup used to work perfectly fine with Live 5.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same issues but with a laptop with far better specs. core2 2,4ghz / 3gb ram. What video card you have in your dell?dustplanks wrote:When I have a single stereo clip playing in live, frequently i get nasty glitch noises when opening menus, minimizing/maximizing windows, etc. It only seems to happen when I am connected to my Tascam US-122. I would say no, in general your pc is not to slow to playback audio clips. The difficulty is to isolate the source of the problem. Since it seems to work better with the built in audio interface, i suspect the usb interface has to share interrupts with other components of you machine. Usb interfaces tend to give cpu spikes and /or audio hickups on certain configurations which can hardly be changed.dustplanks wrote:When I have a single stereo clip playing in live, frequently i get nasty glitch noises when opening menus, minimizing/maximizing windows, etc. It only seems to happen when I am connected to my Tascam US-122. But besides all problems coming from the hardware i am still convinced that there are some nasty problems with the live engine and the graphical performance.
My pc has the exact same symptoms you describe, the audio stream gets interrupted with clicks, pops and even stutters when closing windows, clicking buttons, etc..
Have a look at this discussion, there are also some hints on how to rule out the pc as source of the problem:
