Get a machine drum and a fuzz pedal to hook it up to and one of those kaos pads.

I think that a laptop, decent audio interface like motu traveller, ableton live and get yourself a copy of FXpansion's BFD 2 (excellent drum software). BFD will sound just like a real drummer without much work involved.

Check it out you wont be disappointed

:D

BFD is sick. That's good advice, if the OP is going for that type of sound.

Not sure if he'll be back or not though.

He did say they have a live drummer which they have no intention of replacing.

Yeah...no need to replace our drummer...We're just going for some different sounds.

Then you should try FXpansions Guru. It's one powerful software drum machine. Comes with a good library and lets you import files which can be sliced and rearranged in no time at all using the built in step sequencer.

live does that too...

I don't see any sw which could be better for a live situation...

you can always go the hw (akai MPC/roland MV8800) route...

but if it's software you're after ....go with god..err I mean live...

I'd like to publicly apologize to Laird:

Laird, I was the douchebag, forgive me, oh Portland brother.

I repent in the name of community! In the eyes of God and all mankind.

I suppose the whole "I'm the Robin Hood of Pro Audio" thing annoys me sometimes. By "Robin Hood" I mean you do your best to help strangers save money with gear. I love being a Robin Hood of pro audio too, but you have to be careful. Sometimes it goes way too far and you end up biting the hand that feeds you.

So far, Ableton hasn't bitten me. ;)
Now hand over your money.
