noob alert!

Post by darrensimp » Fri Feb 15, 2008 4:25 pm

Can anyone please tell me the best way to get started with ableton as i have no experience whatsoever i have watched videos on youtube etc and went through the tutorial on the actual program but i think it expects you to have used the software before. i really want to get to grips with this, as i have a passion for music but am struggling to learn the basics. would anyone be willing to guide me through it? i have ver 7.0 please!!

open ableton, click help, then 'lessons table of contents'

or read the manual imo

Bring back Steve! :D

back to the OP.

You just need to play around with some clips for a while and go through the lessons included as Chev says. Get used to the flow, like anything, it takes time to learn the basics. From there you can expand away!

steve is DEAD i tell you!!

another good way to pick up ableton is to live with somebody who knows the basics

that's what my housemate did....

....honestly, the number of times i'd be called into his room, only to say "yeah, click back to arrangement" or "yeah..... click that little keyboard in the top right"

There is also some DVD tutorials you can get in most music shops... around 50$.

If you don't have a mate to explain to you these are a good way to approach the app quickly. Very straight to the point.
