always count on OS upgrades to go wrong. always have a back up plan. really, get a new drive and install to that one, if it craps out, put the old drive back in. hindsight's a bitch.

the problem is somewhere between the keyboard and the chair.

good luck, computer problems suck.

I don't have any issues, of course I'm just a casual user atm.

Tru dat. I did choose to upgrade from tiger though. And yeah it is kind of fucked they install leopard on all there new machines. When i had the latest version of tiger I really don' recall any problems. But with leopard it has a habit of getting those kernel panic things which NEVER happen in tiger. Sometimes if i have an external device attached, like a firewire hard drive, and put it to sleep like the fan goes off but there is still this whine noise(processor? idk) So, yeah come on Steve Jobs, you fucking tool.

Same here. Running Leopard and XP and couldn't be happier.

Yes i know this ain't gonna be true for everybody, but for me it is! What a Horror release! I been working on macs for the last ten years and i haven't seen anything that bad from Apple!
Woooah there buddy.

You seriously just said that 10.1 and 10.2 were better than 10.5. Now, I've heard horror stories about 10.5, which is why I'm cool with 10.4. But there's no way it can be worse than 10.1 or 10.2. ;)

If you are getting kernal panics all the time and you can't install on this disk or that, your problem is HARDWARE, not software. Run the Apple Hardware Test CD that came with your Mac. You may have a bad ram chip, a bad logic board, a bad drive, or a bad processor.

I am a professional Mac consultant for Small Dog Electronics, and I just don't share the main poster's opinion. I probably see more Macs than anyone here, and Leopard has been as solid a release as Tiger was. There were some bugs, but the software updates have come rapidly, and my clients have all been happy with it.

Do you want help, or do you want to just bitch and vent? Please let us know so we don't waste our time.

10.5.2 works like a fine here. No complaints at all.... and I have real work to do.

Now quit crying.

Of course, out there in Macintosh land, the fanboys outnumber the objective users 10 to 1 ...

At least most PC users acknowledge that the O/S *especially Vista* is a piece of crap, but most of these mac fanboys would defend the fruity fruit with their dying breath, even if they couldn't get their machine to work they would happily suck off Steve Jobs in a parking lot and pay HIM for the privilege :o

And as someone who works with Macs daily and respects them (we are still running Tiger though), I would say that OSX is a better O/S and there are plenty of benefits for Macs but recently, they are cheapening their product, taking out TI firewire chipsets that are rock solid to replace them wuth cheapy Augere ones, releasing a DOG of an upgrade in Leopard (Leopard is almost as bad an upgrade as Vista is to win XP, certainly the IT department at work are not changing from Tiger anytime soon). Come on Apple, you're better than this !!!

Agreed, good advice from Jason.

I just went from 10.4.11 to 10.5.2 on 2 machines last week. So far so good.
