Audio Breaking up
Audio Breaking up
I have Mac iBook 700 mhz G3 maching...running 10.3
Ableton 3 ran pretty well, very well, actually.
Ableton 4 is running clunky.
After 1-2 MIDI tracks and 1-2 audio tracks, my machine starts choking. The CPU is actaully only running at 10-20% at most. Normally, this wouldn't seem to be a problem.
Any tips on getting 4 to run smoother?
Is it the size of sample buffer?
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Dwight. :(

I have the same problem, and I'm on a 1.25 Aluminum PB. I do have a lot of disabled plugs in my autoload, but it's breaking up when the meter is around 40%. Especially when launching new clips. Especially when launching a clip for the first time.
I tend to think that there are CPU spikes that happen faster than is registered on the CPU meter.
I have a thing that I'm working on where I had 4 audioinstruments. I had some problems, but the problems got worse once I bounced to audio. Now the audio causes all kinds of choking.

I have also experienced this problem. I will load up some tracks and it will glitch after about 20 bars or so. My Cpu meter doesn't show that it sholuld be choking.

Pretty sure that the high CPU issue is quite pertinant with LiVE4 / here on the forum judging from previous posts I've read already.
For me, no matter how many apps/unwanted services I close and how specific I am with automating VST on/off useage within the seqencer window and how many times I defrag (daily atm) I'm still experiencing real heavy audio breakup and huuge overload in general.
Laying down chords i.e anything more than simply a 1 note polyphony b-line seems to create havoc aswell with LiVE. Coupled with that also is the fact that using the NEW plugins for chords is a no no.
I'm sure the team are more than aware of this issue re: cpu useage. I shalln't harp on about it anymore.. too many negative's would ruin my day. Just helpful pointers from a user hopefully.
Thanks ABLETON AG and Hi to all the members here aswell.

Come on ableton, OSX users need serious help.
WE cannnot recommend the software to OSX users without this being fixed.
