My sound quality and over all volume drops by about 25% or so after the song has been rendered and I have burnt it to disk. It does sound fine the entire time before it is rendered but once that happens for some reason it cuts my output down. We're using a Motu Ultralite and an IMac. Hopefully someone has some adive on how to ensure the levels remain the same or as close as possible. Any help would be appreciated.

I imagine you did but just in case...
Did you check if Normalize option is set to No in your render menu? It should be set to No, otherwise you might loose volume if you are into loud mixes.
When you say your volume is cut, do you mean that you hear the difference on the rendered file in your Mac or you hear it later, when played on a different source (hi-fi, etc.)?
Can be lots of reasons...

No, the volume drop is still evident on the same system. The biggest hit is converting a rendered version to MP3. I do understand the loss is quality on that end but the cloume reading decreases so much that I'm concerned.
I have heard the more effects used in a song also affects the sound quality.
I have found that songs that I made on the PC with an M-Audio soundcard have a better soundqualuty than the songs made on the Mac using the Motu.

You are trying to compare Live to a different program, maybe iTunes? Boo already asked you this... and did so for a reason!
Its 100% possible for iTunes to sound quieter than Live. Both have seperate volume controls, for instance.

But, um, there's no rule anywhere that says 10+ effects = good music, less than 10 is bad music. Anyone who says that is, well, wrong. Its not the effects themselves, but how they are used, that improves or qorsens sound quality.

That's not Mac's fault, or Motu's fault. Its your fault... sorry. Maybe your MOTU is hooked up to crappy speakers/headphones, while the maudio is in a nice room with good monitors?
