help / workaround for session view / midi keyboard problem

Post by nessiecansado » Mon Feb 18, 2008 6:11 pm

Hi

I was hoping someone might have an idea or workaround for a problem I am having. I hope there is an easy solution that I am just not seeing.

I want to use "scenes" in session view to organize several different songs. Each song will basically be in a separate scene.

However, I realized that this creates a major problem for me. I use a different "Sampler" instrument for each song...and I need to control the Sampler instrument with my Midi Keyboard.

I obviously don't want to trigger 10 different sampler instruments at once...
I want to trigger only the Sampler instrument necessary for that particular scene.
So how can I go about having each scene only trigger the 1 instance of Sampler that I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Use an instrument rack.

mention of the chain selector to move between Samplers would probably be helpful. load all the Sampler versions into a rack, right click to even distribute the chain selector then assign the chain selector to a midi controller, as you move the controller you'll be going from Sampler to Sampler, one at a time.
