This new years eve i sat behind the foh console and watched Kanye west and it sounded like dookie. The bottom was choked to hell. It sounded like that spot had only 2 bass notes. Mud, woofy awful. Marilyn manson holloween. ugly bottom but not as bad. That joint should sound a lot better. Most local production types complain.

My facility is directly behind it. Wanna see what I do these days? Here's some bands I've mixed for live on the fly broadcast. I don't mix all the bands, but at least 90%. One hour sound check and off we go! Check it, lemme know whats up td.

those all sound great, but they're board recordings, which is a different science than PA setups, right? not to say you can't or haven't rocked both, on both sides of the board, just saying.

I saw Morrissey last year, 3 times, the sound at the Pearl really impressed me, one of the best sounding shows I can remember. love him or hate him, his backup band has dynamics. I saw the Pearl as a new venue that had some good money dumped into it. the scene at the Palm was cheeseball-a-rama. I go to Vegas maybe once a year, I don't frequent the venue.

Yeah Tone, venue's go through poor tech periods like most things. Too many human elements can make it right or wrong for spells. Maybe i'll hear a good one soon. Me don't think so though.

Yes, board recordings is right. I use a 40 fader digidesign D-show console up into a Waves maxx BCL 200 feet away in another building. I also record PT hd multi. Think recording studio for live acts. We use no P.A. other than our smokin stage monitor system. it's all for broadcast and the immediate content. I designed the mix studio, stage systems, acoustics and are audio director. I'm making scant music these days. Fast and furious meatball audio though. Extremely challenging. I'm mixing music i have never heard and it goes straight to stone. Crazy huh. Nothing like it. Your not seeing much of the realtime interactivity with the fans, but that's been a great development. More refinement is needed. Great reactions from all though. record companies want us bad.

We're still beta though. I'm designing a mobile system now. I've got decsent budgets while we poke at the best way to break out big. mostly fun. Much to iron out on lots of levels.
