Garritan PO plug-ins

Post by Helicopter Steve » Tue Feb 19, 2008 1:48 am

Greetings all, I am new to Live and have been going thru the lessons. I am trying to insert Garritan Personal Orch as a plug in, but I have not been successful. I clicked "activate" in the plug-in icon and browsed to locate Garritan but wasn't sure exactly what to look for. Should there be something in the Garritan folder or the Native Instruments folder that actually says "plug-in"? There was nothing of the kind...I did manage to get it to accept Program Files\Garritan\GPO KP2 Library\instruments\ in the VST plug-in custom folder and Native Instruments\kontact Player 2\UserPatches\Instruments in thelibrary location, but I really don't know what I'm doing and those locations don't give me any available plug-in devices.
The manual seems to indicate that Live should be able to find them on its own but it's not. Thanks much for your time and advise.

When you installed GPO, you installed its VST plugins somewhere. Just where depends on which GPO product you installed, and what version.

If you installed the latest version (or insatalled all the updates), then you're looking for a file named KontaktPlayer2.dll; on my machine, it's in C:\Program Files\VstPlugins.

To give Live access to that file, you either need to tell Live that the folder that contains that file is its VST plugin folder, or you need to insert a shortcut to the file (or to the folder that contains it) into Live's VST plugin folder.

Does this description make sense?
The difference between theory and practice is that in theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is.
