Random midi timing

Post by musicmachine » Thu Feb 14, 2008 4:59 pm

Hellp!

This is what threw me in the past.I record one 4 bar kick loop from my RS7000 into Live and the timing is a little off so i stop playback.I record another 4 bar loops and it's almost perfect with a few minor variations but at least i can quantize the beat afterwards.I have up to 16 tracks of midi parts to record into live so this is a major problem and atm i'm just working itb with Live and Reason but i'd like to get to the bottom of this, whether it's live or a windows or something in my setup.I've tried everything i can think of short of upgrading my gear but if that what it comes to then i need to consider whether its worth it as im happy with my setup apart from this timing issue.I can record the same 4 bar loop three times and each time the timing is different. This is with monitoring off which i thought would be more reliable :?

I've recorded on an empty midi track and with an external instrument and the results are the same.I've used two different midi interfaces,a focusrite saffire le and a remote zero.Im going to try reaper see if the timing is more consistent.

Hope you can help Ableton. Please understand,i am not saying ableton is the cause but as it's my main host maybe you can help me troubleshoot this problem and i can find a solution.

Best Regards,

TJ

Hi guys,

could you give us some more information on
your setups? Are you on Windows or Mac OS?
Which audio interface are you using?

Thanks,
Jan
