WHICH LAPTOP WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE???
Hi People
This is my first post on this forum - and i'm here with a question that i'm sure has been asked many times -
WHICH LAPTOP WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE???
I am doubting between buying the good old Apple Book that everyone seems to be using or a n upgraded Windows Laptop.
The Apple Book for 1500 euro comes only with Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 (2,16 GHz) and 4MB Memory and only 1 year warranty...
While for about 250 euro more I can get a Windows laptop with a newer 2.50 GHz Intel C2 DUO T9300 800MHz 6MB and 3 year collect and return
I use live with a lot of vst's and effects and i am really doubting between the nice looking Apple or something like this:
http://nl.zepto.com/Shop/Notebook.aspx?notebookid=645
I do not consider myself an expert on music production or computers so i am really seeking some good advice before i invest, the money is saved - and now is decision time - any advice much appreciated.
Gareth

the iFanboys will say different, but this is a golden time to get a great value for money pc laptop.
Shop around for brands, the only real difference to audio is the make of the onboard Firewire chipset. Many interfaces struggle with non TI Firewire, so google for more info. go for xp and 3gb ram and the biggest hard drive you can afford.
the macbooks are a great product, but they are not competitive with a pc laptop if youre on a budget.

Unfortunately, the Ableton Forum is very provincial. It's like moving to a small town in the countryside. Strangers aren't welcome. As you can see from the responses so far, you haven't had much help.
I can't help you with your laptop question. Maybe using search on this forum will help, but you probably will find loads of Windows v Apple debates, though they reflect the intolerance of attitudes here. My suggestion is to join the KVR forum. People there are generally much more helpful and not as hostile as here.

Gearslutz is also a very useful place to visit. Here is a link:

If you plan on staying with this forum, then it is advisable to write about non music related topics like politics, general trivia and how this forum needs or doesn't need moderators.
You also need to brown nose the big posters. That means a few things:
1) Respond positively to nebulearse's ridiculous posts.
2) Occassionally call someone a cunt.
3) Say MAD PROPS a lot (whatever that fucking means).
4) Write meaningless posts and insult lots of people.
5) Once you reach 1000 posts you may be welcome here.
Anyway, I am not posting here anymore and I won't visit this forum anymore either. Too much negativity here and too many dickheads.
Goodbye.

i don't really know how to use computers, i only know what i want them to do for me,
and only know the programs i use for music production and a few others... so i use mac.
that said, i need a new one.... but with the current speed stepping problems and firewire chip set i am trying to wait patiently....
those problems i was informed of on this forum, btw...
folks here have been generally nice and a great laugh for me.
