Live 7.0.2 and PhotonX25/Virtual Bassist problem

Post by abu_jura » Fri Feb 22, 2008 8:48 am

Hello there,

After installing Live7.0.2 I have started to expirience problems with Photon and Steinbergs VB. It all worked fine with ver.6.0.10 and 7.0.1.

In ver.7.0.2 when I load VB and hit a key on Photon, Live's CPU meter hits the roof and there is no sound at all. VU meters are dead too. Other plug-ins,however,work fine (FM8, Proteus, SampleTank...).
Clicking on "Listen" button in VB with a mouse to check the loaded samples also works fine.

I have tried re-installing the drivers and Live but that didn't help at all.

Loading VB in earlier versions of Live still works fine. Audio andMIDI settings are identical in all versions.

Would anyone know where is the problem?

Thanks foryour help.

Hi abu_jura,

could you tell us which version of VB you are using?
Do you also experience the CPU spikes if you use
the computer keyboard to play the plugin?

Thanks,
Jan

Hello Jan,

I'm using VB Version 1.0.0 Build 503. And yes, the same thing happens whether MIDI input comes from computer keyboard or external MIDI controller.
When I load VB, CPU meter shovs about 5% but after hitting any key (computer or Photon) it goes way up and fluctuates between 75-95%.

Thanks

I just noticed something that doesn't make much sense.

If I load Sonik Synth 2 into Live 7.0.2 on one MIDI strip and then VB on another MIDI strip, everything seems to be in order and it all works fine.

When I delete SonikSinth, VB stops responding again!

I've tried this experiment with different plugins but it seems that only Sonik does some magic.
