Oh put a sock in it you dismal fuckstick.

I've got two Oxygen 8s, a Midisport 4x4, a Firewire 410 and a Firewire Audiophile and in the four years I've owned them they've all been 100% reliable. I've gigged with them pretty constantly and the only time any of them has ever malfunctioned was at Shambhala in Canada when I got a bit excited dancing and pulled my own firewire cable out.

All this "m-audio are SHIT" stuff is just horseshit from inept losers who don't know how to use their shit, under-specced PCs.

Learnt to use your shit properly and stop fucking whining.

You cunt.

from what I've seen on this forum of all the mfgs. people have problems with Ableton is #1, automap is #2, M Audio is #3 receiver of complaints.

as an experienced slut of pop it's probably safe to say you know how to hook up, love and use gear better than most.

Like many companies, not all M-Audio products are created equal.

My M-Audio MIDI interfaces work flawlessly, but the Ozonic and Keystation 49e I bought were cheap and nasty lightweight plastic toys, as reflected by the cost. I was foolish enough to rely on them live and paid the price.

IMO, you really do get what you pay for in just about everything in life, not just music gear. On the other hand, more expensive isn't always better.

No, I just tire of all this lazy, ignorant bullshit from people who have had problems installing a piece of equipment and immediately jump to the conclusion that it is the manufaturer at fault and not them and their patent ineptitude.

I, and thousands like me, have ZERO problems with our M-Audio gear.

Ergo - M-Audio isn't shit.

Ergo TITBAG and all his weeny helpers are hopelessly wrong.

As fucking usual.

In fact, I also have three RME Fireface 800's which have proved to be slightly less reliable than my M-Audio interfaces owing to the flimsy nature of the Firewire 800 plug and socket.

Right now I'd be far happier taking my Firewire Audiophile onto a stage than I would my Firefaces, superior audio quality notwithstanding.

'cause it's all about you, I get it now!!! damnit, I thought it was all about me.

actually the only M Audio I own is the only thing that acts up, the ol' hippy looking midisport 8x8s. sometimes it would just lock up, I'd leave it unplugged overnight and it'd work again. lately after I resetup my studio it refuses to cooperate.

I'm not sure if you're tarring me with the same brush, but I assure you that I'm not incompetent in the use of knowledge of my gear. If it doesn't work, it because it doesn't work or is unreliable, not because I don't have the knowledge to use it.

Many M-Audio products (just like Behringer and other budget gear) are built to a price point, and design, materials, reliability and durability can suffer.

no way, no how. I know you're not incompetent, Pop Slut probably isn't either. I'm taking the stance of observing the general population, what the overall buzz has been on reliability. M Audio is brought up a lot. I don't like slamming any company with large brush strokes, M Audio is about the only one I'm negative on, and Ableton when they have their heads up their asses.

Sorry, TD... I meant Popslut's brush!

Behringer is in the same boat (a Chinese junk!) There make some absolute shit, but I'm still amazed at the reliability, functionality, value and durability of my BCR2000 and FCB1010.

Me too.

BCR-2000, Composers [x2] Multicoms [x4] Ultrafex, cable tester, Virtualiser, Moduliser, etc etc - all in my studio and all work flawlessly and all cost peanuts.

Ok the Virtualiser and Moduliser aren't exactly world class but they cost me £20 each and supply adequate percussion 'verbs and choruses. And they work.

I did buy a UB2442fx mixer which never worked and which I had to return FOUR times before throwing it in a skip but hey - you'll never hear me shouting "Behringer are SHIT" because I don't base my entire evaluation of a huge company based upon one piece of gear. Just avoid their mixers.

A poor workman blames his tools in my experience. Judging by his posts, I'm guessing TITBAG is a fucking terrible workman.

Albeit one with an amusing turn of phrase on occasion.

Could it be possible that this kind of forum acts as a magnet for incompetent fuckwits?

Just thinking aloud here...

true, but as it's been pointed out, PC hardware can vary wildly given all the people out there making the hardware.

as Beats Me puts it
works fine on my system. end of discussion.

absolutely, then there's some truly incredible people. I often say wtf after reading a lot of n00b posts and can't reply because I can't bring myself to give a polite response to some bit of fuckwittery. I'd say it's probably a pretty good cross section of idiots, pros, n00bs, hobbyists, rapists, musicians, thieves, liars, fashion designers, DJs, knuckle draggers, producers, nose pickers and wannabes from all over the planet.

Also, 'MUST WORK' stage reliability is FAR more important to me than 'nice if it works today, will f*ck around with it to try to get it to work if it doesn't' studio reliability!

Been there, done that, got the M-Audio Ozonic and Keystation 49 live scars to prove it!

OK as regards to the Mididsports from M-Audio. I've had a 4x4 that works well for 6 plus years, BUT! and this is big, it has NEVER been able to send or recieve beat clock from my MemoryMoog, (retrofitted with modern MIDI implementation), when using Digital Performer. DP can send and recieve beat clock from Emagic, and Stienberg MIDI solutions, as well as other MIDI boxes, but DP ( a MOTU software sequencer ), has never been able to work with M-Audio. I'm certain this is a limitation on M-Audio's part.
The USB Quattro drivers........ let's just say I at first blamed Windows XP, but it was apparently M-Audio. Three different machines, and serious issues trying to instal drivers every time. Only one machine was truly successful.

M-Audio = mediocre but cheap. At some point I am replacing the Midisport, it's reliable, but only to a degree, one has to wonder why a high end DAW like DP would have problems with their drivers and not others?

I had a Delta 44 that worked OK, no real problems, just a digital glitch every time I started any audio program. One win for M-Audio
