ableton live performance with drums and cardboard and straw

hi

i just uploaded this film thing of a performance we did in manchester a few years ago

its about a 15 minute set of one song piece we composed called 'bam boo', i am doing all the noises on the computer using ableton, allan is playing drums and lord mongo (my brother) is er.. doing the rest.

Dude, that was fucking excellent. There just isn't enough completely experimental, avante-garde shit going on these days - no matter what country or continent. The performance art aspect with Lord Mongo only adds to the overall creativity. In many ways, laptop music mixed with real instruments and free-association vocal performances is the new punk. That element of danger and 'anything could fucking happen' attitude is so utterly lacking from everything these days...

As soon as the film started, I thought of one thing: Genesis and performing 'Watcher of the Skies' live, haha. Something about the buildup of the music, the increased layering, then Lord Mongo slowly becoming more visible, hahah.

genesis eh? i see a slight similarity.

it wasnt my laptop either, i didntn have one then, i had to cart my whole desktop getup over to manchester from leeds on the bus.

pretty much the first time i'd ever done anything live so im glad it worked out ok
