midi clips turning on/off audio effects.....not working

Post by jlee462 » Mon Feb 25, 2008 7:14 am

We currently use ableton for a click and backing tracks when playing live shows. I have started running my vocals through live and want to turn on and off audio effects via midi clips. I am using the midi map feature to map midi notes to the device on parameter of audio devices. Unfortunately, this seems to turn the device on and off very quickly. What am I doing wrong. I want a midi note to turn it on. If a trigger the note again it should turn it off.....any thoughts?

Also, are there better ways to achieve this?

Thanks,
Jeremy

figured out the problem. I am using the Mac IAC Driver as my midi output. In Preferences, you have to set The track on for both Input and Output for the IAC driver. You also have to set Remote ON for the Input of the IAC Driver.

If you set Remote to ON for both the input and output it will create problems......only set remote on for the input.

with racks you can create your own dry/wet so you dont have to deal with all that IAC stuff..

put the fx u wanna turn on and off inside their own audio effect racks

add second audio chain which is totally dry

use the macro knobs to adjust the levels of the audio chains, you can set one of them to invert so when u hear the fx, u cant hear the dry version and when u hear the dry version u cant hear the fx etc..
