Normal or Glossy Display for MacBooks Pros?

I had somehow equated LED backlight with small and matte, and Non-LED backlight with widescreen glossy.

If you go to the shop, they offer the alternatives.
OP should know about this things; that's what I thought.

i'm kinda torn also. i currently have a powerbook 1.67ghz and i'm going to buy a mbp as soon as i decide between glossy and matte.

i figure this is the best place to get opinions as most of us deal with audio primarily. and this will be my main machine for LIVE, internet, light video and photo work...

i'm most concerned when playing in clubs, and outdoor performances, day/night.

on the macrumors site, people are leaning towards matte, but most of them do graphic design/ video...

for the rest of us in the audio/LIVE realm...
will the glossy provide much for versatility in the fields of audio?

glossy looks nice but its a pain in the ass when you try to view it in bright light or from an angle get the non glossy one + the none glossy shows things in their tru colour such as images so if you ever do image editing you will see the tru picture not some prettified gloss version

EDIT: f you gonna be playing in clubs etc DO NOT GO FOR THE GLOSSY you will regret it big time

Go for the glossy...if you're gonna play in a club and the light reflections are a problem...well...Live has like 30 some different skins, find one that will work for you.

Depending on how you play the tunes live and what kind of venue it is, I would recommend trying to keep the laptop off to the side and only have midi controllers between you and the crowd.

Glossy!

and then just give the screen a quick sanding over with 'Super Fine' Sandpaper to reduce some of the reflection. Avoid wirewool though! tends to take too much of the screen away with it.

I add my vote for matte. My laptop has a glossy screen and it's a constant [losing] battle to eliminate glare. It's also very fatiguing to use for long periods of time. When I use it for my "day job" I need to angle it away from any light sources, turn the brightness all the way up, and squint a little.

If you're watching DVD's in a dark room or want to impress people with your shiny laptop, by the gloss.

If you want to do anything useful buy the matte.

i'm stuck with glossy for now but would prefer matte. one of the few problems i have with my macbook. its not that big of a deal. just every now and then it fucks with me.

QUICK TIP! if you are having serious problems with lighting you can always hit...

ctrl + alt (option) + apple + 8

it def comes in handy from time to time (and it looks cool)

i can finally place my order
and rest my mind...

going with the matte!

at the end, i need versatility where i'll be using my new MBP, especially when things pick up and i'll be on stage with a spotlight from up top somewhere shining while i rock live 7 to the masses!
