Thank you so much!!hoffman2k wrote:Its all in the tutorial. To assign a rack to a clip, you need to automate the chain selector.Decalc wrote:And can i associate each rack to a clip? Or do i have to deactivate one and activate other, all manually?hoffman2k wrote: Thats what Racks are for.

Thanks
In honor of this great video, I'd like all of you to note that Monodeck II does not have the "disco" functions of the original Monodeck...

with all my ranting about OSC and other stuff, I have complete confidence that the German engineers will make all that crap invisible to the user. Live is incredibly easy to use, I can't see them obfuscating the GUI or workflow with geekshit.hoffman2k wrote:I hope it doesn't depend on python.
People have done diddly with python and Live.
Sure, they made some proof of concept stuff. But what good is it to somebody who knows Live but doesn't know python.
Does one have to know python to get the most out of the software one owns?
At least they could release a list of option.txt commands and python commands.

Ummmmmm - Add keys so you can "Play Live" Live beyond just firing clips.
any thing that makes sound is a musical instrument
Yes anything that makes sound is an instrument point taken. But allow me just point out that you don't need to be a keyboard/piano player to use the keys to simply trigger sounds. Even being able to have a sample spread of FX etc on the keys to fire off here and there while launching clips would be good. I don't see anything bad about adding keys to the Monodeck.
my point is I have heard Robert consistantly refer to the Monodeck as an instrument he has to learn to play like a piano - so from his point of view it already isOlga wrote:forge wrote:you mean so YOU can play live! not everbody is a keyboard playerOlga wrote:Heres a suggestion for the Monodeck III.

I guess this is why it makes sense to make your own controller - because you can design it to your own needs
and this is a good tuto, hoffman2k !!!
Decalc, with chains, racks & zones, you can use 2,3 or more sounds in the same clip too !!
useful if you don't want to multiply the number of tracks and you want to "group" same kind of sounds in one track.
I mean: all sounds like clap/snare in the same tracks ; you choose a discrimination criteria (note and/or velocity) and voilà: C3 produces the sound of the chain 2 and C4 of the chain 3 for instance!....

Were not discussing the possibility of every Live user needing to go learn Python or Max/MSP. We are discussing in what manner the Monodeck II speaks to Live and the reverse, and I'd say that the most likely thing to happen is something that involves Live via Python talking to Max/MSP to the Monodeck II.Tone Deft wrote:with all my ranting about OSC and other stuff, I have complete confidence that the German engineers will make all that crap invisible to the user. And as I said before, having the possibility of extending a program via scripting is never bad, however it should not get in the way of users (it does not do that now, for obvious reasons - so introducing a Live Python API would not get in the way of users either).
Geekshit, or not, It's a good idea. You wouldn't have to use it if you didn't like it you know

Out of interest, why not? I know nothing about programming and really wish I did. I've been advised that if I were to learn It'd be best to start with Python becuse its capable of good things while being very simple, it still looks really intimidating to me though.noisetonepause wrote:I just wish they didn't use Python.
I'd certainly have a really good go at it if it were ever something I could actually make use of. Algorithmic music making for instance, some way to extend Follow Actions would be really interesting to me.

I'll dig in python/max/live this morning.
just would like to fire/stop sending actions from max to live (I mean, no action via MIDI .. action via udp send, action for clips..)
but in order to dig I have to buy a :
