Isn't there a way to group tracks like with Drum Racks???

Post by dango » Tue Mar 04, 2008 6:01 am

I mean come on, there must be something really simple i am missing.

with drum racks you can "unfold" thge drum rack to reveal all the pads in their own track.

isn't there a way to do this with regular audio and midi tracks? it gets really messy having 20 or 30 tracks out in session view. i guess this would be called grouping right? that's what i call it in photoshop anyways.

please let me know if i am missing something. i have been wanting this for 4 years now.

No, not any track.

Instrument Rack tracks also do the fold out thing though like Drum Rack tracks.

Making track groups is something I really want. If they only do 2 features for the next version it would be track group and curve based automation.

Id rather have those than a vocoder.

Heres hoping :)

+1 on both.

TBH those are my two most wanted features.

Though I would also like to see external instrument sorted out such that they providing automation to midi mappings for all CCs - ie so that you could just select a CC as an automation parameter to and external instrument without having to do the usuall fekking about, or even better - Allow external instruments to load a parameter map xml file so all the params came up with the right names for the device as well as providing an automation interface.
Nothing to see here - move along!

+1 for the track group but -1 for the vocoder.....only thing is I won't be paying any money for voocoder as a seperate instrument.

wouldn't this be an easy thing for them to do?

right now i usually use two instances of kontakt, each one has 8 different midi tracks sending midi to different channels in kontakt, that is 16 tracks just used on kontakt, oh how nice it would be to be able to collapse them when not in use. come on abes, get on it.

definitely need grouping..

im sure it would have an impact on the sluggyness of the arrange view when zooming/panning around if there wasn't a ton of tracks all being shown all at once. maybe..

it's obviously possible with their implementation of drum racks.. just hope it's not included as part of a payed upgrade for a feature that should have been there ages ago.

Agreed, especially since they already have the framework set up.

Right, now that the framework is in place I think it's obvious it will be fully implemented in the next version. Or at least it better be! This is one of those things that should've been implemented like two versions ago, but I will say I like the way it's been done with the Drum/Inst Racks.
