Synths that do this

Post by Andrei » Tue Mar 04, 2008 3:30 am

Can any1 tell me about synths both hardware and software that are capable of doing this:

Take a sample and add stuff on top of it, not only filters, but oscilators as well...

sampler is awesome for mangling samples. I don't use it as a synth so much as to make really messed up sounds. you can try it in demo mode, fully functional but you can't save anything.

zebra? I could be wrong but I don't think it does... though it would be sweet if I was wrong about that.

This is a bit off topic, but its something im just noticing more and more.
Im spending more time than usual on the forum at the moment, due to the arrival of our first nipper (child).
How do some of the posters here manage to post so much?
Often insightful, informative and usually relevant posts im talking about.
So how do some of the more regular posters (eg homebelly, tonedeft, johnisfaster) find the time to post so much? The knowledge that they display often suggests that they are professional musicians or engineers, or at least spend a lot of time and know a lot of stuff about music/ableton/nerdery etc.
How?

V-Synth - right out there on its own for sample abuse. I dont think there is anything in eitehr hardware or software that comes close to it.

As a bonus, you get a useful bit of JP80xx VA heritage as well if thats of use to you.
Nothing to see here - move along!

Its not that I care, in that I dont really think about it too much, but I just happened to be thinking about it when I wrote that post. My irrelevant thought for the day.
Thats all.
