How do you use Live?

Does anyone else get into this session view rut? Make a 2-bar/4-bar drum loop - you like it. Add a bass hook, maybe some Rhodes/piano vamping. Add a couple of random additions. Get bored. Start a new set with a new idea. Repeat ad nauseum.

Dude, man,, thats not a LIVE problem,, thats a life problem.
I get into that rut no matter what i'm using,, live, logic, reaktor,, sitting on my couch with my guitar.

@ hereschenes: maybe the problem is that you're not using the arrangement at all?

Try this: open one set that you like in session view, start recording in the arrangement, and then start playing in session view, launching clips, inserting fx, using follow actions, messing with envelopes, go wild.

Then switch to arrangement, listen to it, cut the bad parts out, and piece together the good ones. You will at least have an idea of where that set is going, what is missing in it, and you will have the feeling that you have moved on.

I had been trying Live for a number of years now (Since vs 3) but gave up using it six months back since I would start projects and consistently hit a wall. I seem to be unable to sequence clips as I do in Sonar, FL Studio, eXT or Tracktion. I keep hearing how easy people find Live to use but I appear to be missing something especially in the seesion view where I can nothing going.

I would appreciate any pointers on the best way to re-learn Live.

After being a long-time Logic user (!), I've made the move over to Live 7. It's proving to be, at the moment, so much easier and 'faster' than Logic; the sequencing in the Arrange view feels much nicer, potentially because the session view is right there if you need to play with a loop or two.

I use it mainly for djing, but also for other stuff such as producing or remixing

live = the pwn. (apart from the missing lfo-device, crappy envelopes and unofficial dummy clips
