Hello everybody,
Hope someone can help me, since a few weeks I'm the proud owner of a RME Fireface 800 soundcard. However, it seems not to work optimal with Ableton Live 7.0.2 at this time. My configuration is: P4, 3.2 GHz, 1 Gb memory, Firewire 400 card which is connected to the Fireface 800 soundcard. The Fireface Asio driver is selected and the buffer size is 256 samples.
Ableton recognizes the card and all ins & outs perfectly. The problem however is that when I start a track, for instance one midi or audio channel, and I move my mouse a little bit over the screen audio dropouts appear. Sometimes when I do nothing for a few minutes Ableton freezes completely and I have to restart the application.
Hope that somebody can help me with this strange thing? I've played with the buffer size, but that seems to have no influence at all.
Regards,
René
RME Fireface 800 problems with Ableton 7.0.2
First try to turn off all Midi ports. If that helps and you're working with Windows (you didn't tell us
) then try switching all Fireface Midi ports to MME instead of DirectMusic (Preferences -> Midi -> click little arrow left of Port Name). If neither of those helps then contact Ableton directly, it's their job to help you.
