I test drove my mates H2 the other day and it seemed amazing. It can definitely be used as an audio interface, yes!

Creature - I was wondering if you could tell me something about the H4 as I'm considering buying one of them or an H2. Have you used the XLR inputs much? Some reviews say they're a bit crappy and that theres an annoying whine if using batteries, phantom power and an XLR mic. Have you tried this? How about dynamic mics, is the recording any good?

Ok, Got it working. Thats freaking sweet.
To bad it only has a stereo out. Would have been cool if it worked as a 4-way realtime mic.

Here's an extensive review of the H2 with sound samples:

If you record in 360 degrees to 4 tracks, you can encode them to 5.1 surround.

@dave_house, I have not tried it with another mic yet, but I am planning on doing so this year. The quality of the inbuilt mics is top notch though. I made a recording last year of an old 1950's mechanical fruit machine which i used on an album, i'll see if i still have the original recording and post it online.

I've got one and it's absolutely brilliant.

Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

I just bought myself an M-Audio Microtrack II, which is similar I believe. I think it's great as well... so useful. A small handheld recorder is definitely a great thing to have.

I've use the xlr's on the H-4, and I think they're terrific. Have noticed any whine or noise. But I'm recording live in less than ideal rooms, noisy air ducts, fans, noisy audiences.... probably not up to fine studio recordings, but awesome for what I do. I also use the H-4 built in mics as a back up to my main system if I'm not in a situation where I need the portability. The built ins are also quite good.

How do you sync with a Zen on a Mac, I can't get it to work

I plugged it in and it showed up in Itunes.
Maybe you need the latest version of Itunes.

Let's see what we can do to assist you further.

Based on your reply, I understand that you do not have a Windows-based
operating system to support the Zen MicroPhoto player.

I would like to apologize for lack of support for this player on Mac OSX
operating system.

a four track version of this ( thats still pocket sized) would be fantasic. Even two tracks - I like to record vocal overdubs rap/singing after gigs. Would save so much trouble

The drummer in our band uses it to record our practices, and it is very convenient.
Just hit record, set it in the middle of the room, and you can listen to the practices on the car ride home.
