2) this is more difficult to recreate.... I was editing a MIDI clip and I wanted to lasso some notes to remove them. I accidentally started lasso-ing in the velocity section of the clip. BUT I couldn't get the lasso to stop. Ableton no longer responded to my mouse clicks or any keypresses (the ones for Ableton nor the ones for Mac OS X; such as "hide" or "quit"). The only thing it did was move the lasso around. I had no choice and was forced to reboot my machine.

a couple general Ableton bugs...
1) open an existing Live session and go into arrangement view; click on an existing clip there and press the paste command (command-V on Mac; ctrl-V on Windows); Live will then promptly crash; I found this by accident since I was trying to copy that clip and pressed the wrong key
