Nine times out of ten the first chord in your progression will be the root. If you start on A minor, your song is in A minor, or sometimes in C major - but guess what? A major scale is always identical to the minor scale that starts one minor third (three semitones) below it.

Just play around, mate. You need to get a feel for it, anyways. Don't worry. If a note sounds out you can generally get it right by moving it one step up or down.

Do that.

If you don't have anywhere to put it, send it as an MP3 to noisetonepause at gmail dot com and I'll put it online for everyone to hear.

Go check out http://www.looknohands.com as it has a bunch of stuff for guitar (beginner/advanced sections) and piano.

Hope that helps you out!

ok, here are the chords i have, just need to know scale for em
or even what key they are in, so i can use a scale plug in

F, C G# A#
G#, F, D#, C, C
G, F, A#, D#

Then 2nd section is
F,D,A,G, F,C,A,A#, C#,G#, C,F
C#,G#, C, F, F, D, A#, G, D#

Hope someone can help me figure this out,

Can you simply put a scale plug in before the instrument you are playing the chords into and have everything in tune? I have no idea when it comes to music theory... Am I missing something?

Looks like you are in F minor for the top part, F, G, A- (a flat, not G#), B-, C, D-, E-,F . For minor scale you flat the the 3rd, 6th and 7th. The second section isn't proper F minor since you have D in there and if you play the notes they won't sound right in the scale. Go to the website i put the link in for and go to the Piano Room.
