Is Live 7 Magic Manager fucking stupid?

Post by nowtime » Sun Mar 09, 2008 7:31 am

Or is it me...

It regularly loses drum samples and wav files. I am religious about collecting all and saving.

How do I point the search to a specific folder? It always go to the root of my computer. Crazy thing is when I hover the mouse over the samples in the Missing Files list, at the bottom it shows the folder location! how do I point it?

Hi,
I made a Live set with one sample and save this as a Live Project. Then I open the windows browser and put the sample in a extra folder. I open the Live Project again and the sample would not found (Lo and behold!).

Now I open the "magic Manager" (double click on the "samples are missing..."-line) and I see the sample name and LOCATION: missing.

The "collect and save"-button it grey.

I open the automatic search and set the path to the new folder.

auto -> GO -> LIVE: One new candidate was found...
Now I can press the collect and save button!

The other way:

Press the lens ahead the samplename -> the Live-Browser opened.

Search in the folder manual, press GO and you see a list of samples in your Live browser.
Now you can pre-listen the sample.

With a double-click on the sample you can change and select.

Now I can press the collect and save button!

Voilà tout.
best regards,

for mr. bits second suggestion, it is helpful to have a good assortment of bookmarks set in your live browser. you can use those to direct searches which you do in the left side pane..
