Question... I'm a dj using ableton 6.0.7 and I'm use a G4 powerbook with a Lacie 7200rpm external hard drive. all my music is on the external. the question i have is... when i drag a song in it sometimes it shows up instantly and it's ready to go and sometimes it has to load up and waiting for it to load drags and sometimes freezes the playing song. does anyone know why it has to load and what do i need to do to get all my track loading instantly. thanks.

Live has to convert everything to WAV and stores those files in your library before it will play. If you increase the cache size in the preferences then it should hold more WAVs, otherwise I believe it takes the oldest files and deletes them as your cache fills and you add more tracks.

Somebody might correct me on this.

AFAIK, if the cache is full, Live won't even let you play an MP3. A G4 may also take quite a long time to decode an MP3, even with plenty of cache available.

Increase your cache size, or warp your tracks first.
