It's not the clubs I worry about so much as the random ass underground parties where the decks are in a coffin on a keyboard stand in the middle of a warehouse, y'know?

It's barely a complaint, frankly; the thing looks sick and offers even more functionality than I need, so I'll suck it up. Against my better judgement (since this won't hit till summer at the earliest), I'm already dreaming about how I can expand my set to use this thing.

I would just like to see pictures of it with something to judge scale; dimensions would be even better.

for the size, it could have more controls. or it could be a bit more portable....
the video tells you nothing besides 160 assignable controls. you can see it is usb...
the video is pretty much utter crapola, a waste of time.
however, i'm glad someone has finally put out a midi controller in a standard mixer format with more than a few pots per channel.

No rotary encoder  they must add 8 or ~12 fully assignable rotary encoders (14-Bit). The center row, the bigger knobs, should be set only for encoders and led rings all around it. I don't want to brind my BCR2000 no more!

here http://www.djdeals.com/vestaxVCM600.htm it says COMING SOON and apparently it will be around $800 but still no release date? i like it, but we'll have to see how portable it really is.

That thing is pretty dam sick! I just picked up the new mackie D.4 Pro to solve my ableton live needs but this thing is actually causing me to think. If your not aware of the D.4 you may want to be. I did a little post about it over here....http://forum.abletonliveproducer.com/in ... ?topic=5.0
if any one is interested.

"Available June 2008" http://www.vestax.com/v/info/newsevent/detail.php?id=42

This plus a Novation ReMOTE 25 SL and I'm pretty well covered for controls, I reckon. I almost pulled the trigger on a NAMM display Zero8 this week. Its sort of overkill for me and not the most portable mixer, besides all the issues.

If everyone spent as much time drooling over new gear (me included!) as they did learning, rehearsing, and being creative, there would be some awesome tunes out there and not a billion mediocre DJs and producers pumping out useless drivel by the ton.

IMO, it's talent, drive, determination and discipline that make it happen, not the latest sparkly gear or software. Constantly chasing new stuff is a crutch for lack of talent, and the gear manufacturers know it. That's why they keep pumping out new equipment when there's plenty of great stuff out there already!

Now back to the Jazzmutant site...

Very true but many of us have been waiting years for a truely decent controller that integrates well with Live so we can bring our stuff to the stage. :D
Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

Yeah, this is a pretty cool controller that was only available to the homebrew crowd before. Its about time that somebody got the message.

Versions of the VCM-600

Post by liveplayer » Sat Mar 15, 2008 10:55 pm

I just noticed that Vestax has two designs of the board. There's the one initially released and shown at NAMM:

and here is what they've currently got up at the Vestax website:

Apparently they're still refining the configuration of controls to be on the final product.

(er, time for me to have a proper signature...)
