But just to connect with local user or near local even. Would be great. I'll buy the coffee.

Hi all, Would love to connect with any Live users in Margs. I'm actually looking for a tutor to get me rolling. Have gigs booked and I'm chasing my tail trying to figure it all out.

I know it's only rock and roll but I like it
What are you looking to do?
Good to see another WA-ite pop up on the forum. There may be a few lurking about but you never hear much.
Would probally help if you actually explained what you want to do with live. It is such a diverse program and people use it many different ways.
Personnally I use it to compose electronic beats. ( not going to get into genre's they change depending on the day, house-ish i would say)
Not close to Marg's live in Perth myself, good luck finding someone down there.
Just thought I would reply so you weren't completely hanging.

G'day Muzz
I actually have a band down here that has been gigging for some years. We have been a 5 piece band and are fairly well known in town. We have been welll supported by the local pub and have played a lot of corporate and wedding gigs around the area. We are a cover band at the moment but the view with the new line up is to build our rep to include more original music.
We cover a vast range of material from Johnny Cash to Fatboy Slim. We are known for giving our covers a bit of a twist. For the future I am drawing inspiration from a variety of artists. Such as Alabama 3, Massive attack, Tijuana Cartel, House and particularly Dub I find to be pretty inspiring.
My brother plays slide/rhythm and lead guitar and sings and will be working with us (drummer and Myself on guitar and vocals). I have a lot of gear including 2 PA systems, PC rig including pro tools, mbos2pro, Ableton7, behringer fcb1010, remote sl25, All our instruments are pro quality. I am in to putting something together pretty quickly initially because I'm a fulltime musician and need to eat. But I am at the stage with music where I want to raise the bar (sorry to use that awful cliche). I want to make music I'm proud of. I want to record and market that music and take it wherever it can go. I have contacts in the music/entertainment industry in Melbourne and Perth. My brother and I have been writing a lot lately and the plan is once I sort my bread and butter income out is to continue writing and recording.
The more I explore ableton I feel it would be better to have an operator working the computer. As the frontman (at present) I want to be able to move freely onstage and not be driving the whole thing. It would be great to have someone that has some other musical skills. That might be able to play an instrument or sing.
It's hard to really lock a style in from the conception of a band. We are trying to be open to what happens. We have been throwing terms about like rootsy, swampy, country, Acid House music. Bit of a Alabama 3 ripp off with the country acid house music line but it suits what we are after.
This will be the fourth band I have been a part of down here in 12 years each band has been better than the last so I'm hoping this will be "the one". Wanna move? Great Surf, wine, Good food, good people???

Sounds like interesting stuff you are doing down there.
Might have to come down one day and have a listen, especially once you start putting your own stuff together.
Unfortunately the day job that pays for all my toys has me stuck in Perth.
Every now and then I come through Marg's on a bit of wine expedition, so if you luck out and can't find anyone to show you around Live let me know and we may be able to sort something out.
I am no expert but have been playing around with production as a hobby on and off for many years and have a solid understanding of the basics.

Hey Otto,
I'm from Bunvegas. In a heavy band called Parietal. I'm basically the drummer for the band - or at least I program the drums with EZ drummer, mix down the drums then load the wav's into a project. I then trigger the tracks with the mpd24. I also have a track loaded up with samples etc that are also triggered from the mpd24.
I'm not sure I could really help with what you're doing, and I'm definitely not an expert, but I'd be interested to see your band one day.

Bun - vegas. Ha I love it.
Well mate the best laid plans an all that. I'v only just started again trying to get this all set up(Live7). We have been gigging without anything till now. I have just started a guy in the band who is going to be operating Live and playing some electronic percussion. The plan is to get it happening soon. I wil try to get some link up to our myspace when we have that updated.
Like the sound of what your doing. Likewise would be keen to see you giggin.
Cheers
