sky broadband?

Post by billy bumlicker » Mon Mar 17, 2008 12:25 pm

i know this has nothing to do with ableton or music production!

but i was just wondering if any body has switched to sky broadband recently?

if so.....have you had any major problems?

i am thinking about using a different provider to my existing one which is orange.... but cant decide!
obviously a reasonable price would be the best and unlimited is preferred.

if you could throw any ideas my way.... i would be greatly appreciative!

cheers

Go with Bulldog. They're a little slower on the set-up time, but their service is 2nd to none. Very, very fast and their bandwidth is HUGE.

Cheap, too.

I've only heard 'meh' reviews about Sky. BT, also, are a pile of pants; they can't meet the demand of the customers and their hardware is shit.

I'm interested in this too because my mum's just moved to Docklands and was asking me about this because as strange as it may sound they still have an analogue exchange (!!!) so Virgin cant give them broadband - I find that so hard to believe, but she's adamant that's what they said and it sounds like she's had a pretty raw deal with them, so I probably would avoid Virgin

so anyway, I googled 'Bulldog" cause of your post and one of these bad reviews came up about 3rd - check out the comments at the bottom of this page - ha ha-

That's very strange that you all recommend "bulldog"

That's who i was with previously! lol

i had no problems with them either,

i only changed to orange because i upgraded my phone and it was part of the package.

i have been having trouble with orange......the network keeps going off!

i have tried to sort it out with various phone calls....
but got nowhere.

it looks like i may have to beg on my hands and knees to bulldog with a full apology for swapping services!

I'm sure they will be happy to take me back.

thanks guys for all your help.
really appreciate it!

I had Be Broadband and they were very fast (up to 24 meg unlimited downloads).

The only problem was that there seemed to be a lot of down time. You couldn't always guaranteed that you'd be able to get online straight away.

This is what "BE" say about reliability!!
What happens if my service is disrupted?

We’re committed to providing you with a service that has as few disruptions as possible.
In the unlikely event that you experience a loss of service caused by us for more than 5 consecutive days (for home members) and 24 consecutive hours (for pro members), you will be compensated for each day’s disruption, by a reduction in your monthly service fee equivalent to the amount you would have paid for service on those days.
not really very good for me!
i was getting lots of line down with orange,

I have Sky broadband, i opted to pay an extra £5 p/month so th e limit is 40gb instead of 2, & for 8mb speed too.

I am speaking from personal experience and i have to say that the speed is fast, the connection is excellent & i think its good. I give Sky BB 10/10

I do live in neston - on the wirral though and it is quiet around here unlike London. I doubt there are many more people online nearby clogging up the exchange.

to the xtent that you will get in a large city center.
