Wow. Withdrawal and Folly Ditch are very well done.

I just use an Edirol PCR-M50 keyboard, which I actually dislike the feel of. I also have a Korg Pad Kontrol, but I've never used it.

Weird, glitchy, ambient, cool stuff. I like the background talking in The Things...

I'd have to agree Withdrawal is my fav too, nice bassline and drums in that.

Care to share what you use to make these, maybe how you go about writing your tunes? You've got a nice unique style, sparse without being boring or minimal.

Oh yeah, the out of phase stuff in Hill is a right head fuck.

I tend to turn to many of the same basic tools/sounds when writing:

Trilogy
Pianoteq
Lounge Lizard
Stylus RMX
Guru
Battery
µTonic
Ethno Instrument
Twin
Minimonsta

I most often begin with a phrase/motif/progression on piano or epiano, then use RMX to see what kind of rhythm I want on it, move on to bass, then leads and other texture type sounds. I'll then usually do a lot more work on perc tracks, making variations and layering with other apps.

I use a lot of fx to treat the basic sounds and I like volume clip envelopes to glitch things up a bit. I record everything in session clips and then usually record an arrangement of clip launches then move over to arrangement view for fine tuning.

Anything you hear in the way of real world sounds would be field recordings I've made with my Zoom H4. The Things You Take, for instance, has recordings of me driving around in my car listening to the news (mostly high-passed for the mix, unfortunately, as it removes a lot of lovely car sounds) and picking up my daughter from ballet lessons (talking, muffled piano etc).

Fx almost always involves Sound Toys.

I use Altiverb on a return for reverb.

I like to throw an ssl compressor (waves) and an L3 on the master.

Interesting man, honestly a lot more tools than I woudl have guessed by listening. Not that that's a bad thing mind you, just typically when people use that many tools in a song it tends to be a lot busier sounding, and you've definitely got a lot of space in your tracks. Makes me jealous in fact, my stuff always tends to be so filled up, sounds going off all over the spectrum

Very nicely done. Withdrawal is probably my favourite, due to the crispy, tight beats.
