OSX.2 Jaguar and Extenal FireWire Hard Disks... blues

My setup :

IMacG4800Mhz (home studio) or PowerBookG3 500Mhz (for live use)
MOTU828
Tascam428 (for MIDI control only)
Live1.5.2
External FireWire 80GB harddisk (IceCube Oxford) 7200Rpm
OS9.2.2 (for playing live) OSX.2 (just testing for now)

OSX.2 Issue:
Today after installing sooo long awaited Jaguar I found that my external FireWire HD shurely spins down after sertain period of time.... never happened in OS9.... why in Jaguar... it causes sound distortion or dropouts in Live 1.5.2 . I had the same hardDisk spindowns in OS 10.1.4 before aswell ... very frustrating, since i really hoped that Jaguar will b more mature ...
The energy saver is set to never sleep for everything.
When i try to play the same set off my iMacG4 internal HD there is no problem but the internal HD is much slower.

Is there a way to control external FireWire Hard Disks power menagement in OS X or is it a bug in OSX?

Enyone experience similar problems with external FireWire drives?

Hi, i've experienced the same problem with my internal hard drive.

Config :

I book Ice 700MHZ
640 Mo SDRAM
40 GO internal Hard drive (IDE)

Since I've installed OS X 2 aka JAGUAR, I can not record a song longeur than 12 minutes on my hard disk, after 12 minutes the sound is distord ...

I was thinking about buying an external firewire hard disk .. did you manage this problem ??

ok, very easy to manage.
look into the energy-savingpanel. there is an option if you like to shut down the harddisks or not.
right under the sleeping panels.
uncheck it AAANNNDD: no sleeping harddisks anymore.

oh guest.. i wish it was true! i have this same problem.. the drive spins down.. even tho i have it set not to spin down the drive at all in the power settings... i'm searching for solutions constantly.

one solution could be to wait for X.2.2.
it looks like a bug.

ok.. try this. power up the firewire drive before you turn on the laptop.. then after its on and the drive has spun up.. start the laptop.. that should help.

i'll try this tonite too.
