Is it like the Hollywood of electronic music with a taste of Miami during spring break? Are there roving groups of disenchanted producers wandering the streets with their Powerbooks running Reason 2?

It is an island off the eastern coast of Spain which has attracted painters, artists and bohemians for years owing to it's unique light and uncanny resemblance to paradise.

The hippies discovered it and chose it as a cheap place to hang out and party after the 1960s and gradually a free party scene developed.

This in turn spawned a few clubs, which became popular in the late 1980s and these became the superclubs like Pacha, Privilege, Eden, Es Paradis, and Amnesia.

The Ibiza government is trying to change the island's image these days and a lot of the clubs have been closed down and the hippies have moved on or retreated into the hills.
